Abstract

719,405. Valves. FOXBORO CO. March 4, 1952 [March 14, 1951], No. 5657/52. Class 135 A selector valve device for use in apparatus for indicating or controlling a variable condition comprises a plurality of pneumatic signal lines, such as 14, 15, a diaphragm 12 which can be actuated to shut off flow selectively through the lines, and a switching unit comprising a valve 22 by means of which a pneumatic pressure can be applied to the diaphragm to shut off flow in all but one of the signal lines whilst a vent passage through the valve is connected to that part of the diaphragm opposite the line, e.g. line 15, through which flow is permitted. The outlet sides of the diaphragm valves connect to a common outlet line 18, 17. The switching valve has a cylindrical body rotatable by a gear 24, and it comprises also an annular groove 25 in communication with the actuating-fluid inlet 20, a part-annular groove 26 in line with passages 21 leading to the diaphragm and also connected by a vertical groove 27 with groove 25, and a horizontal passage 30 leading from a vent passage 29 and alignable with the groove 21 leading to the particular diaphragm valve which is to be opened by the signal input pressure. The signal line 15 is shown in communication with the outlet 17.
