Abstract
707,429. Valves. MEYER, F. Dec. 13, 1951, No. 29176/51. Class 135 A fluid pressure regulator includes supply and balancing chambers 24, 46, respectively, in communication via conduit 47, interconnected diaphragms, one 26 forming a wall of the supply chamber and the other 29 separating the balancing chamber and a delivery chamber 34, and a passage 62, 63 connecting the balancing and delivery chambers controlled by a valve 61 actuated by the diaphragm 29. Air enters the supply chamber via chamber 18, filter 13 and passage 25 and passes to the balancing chamber so that the valve 61 carried by the diaphragm 29 and abutting a stem 51 carried by the equal area diaphragm 26 is balanced with respect to supply pressure. When the delivery pressure in chamber 34 decreases, the spring 73 shifts the diaphragm 29 to move the valve 61 away from a seat on the end of a screwed stem 70 which adjusts the spring 73. The throat of a venturi in the outlet from the delivery chamber is connected to a passage containing a spring-loaded ball relief valve so that when the delivery decreases below a predetermined minimum, due to diminishing demand, any excess pressure is bled via the relief valve and chamber 32 to atmospheric outlets 33.
