Abstract

683,381. Combing-machines. TAYLOR, WORDSWORTH & CO., Ltd., and DENHAM, F. Aug. 27, 1947 [Aug. 19, 1946], No. 24587/46. Classes 120(i) and 120(ii) In a two-roller assembly for a combing machine, as shown the drawing-off rollers of a Noble combing machine, one roller 10 has its bearings 20 in fixed supports 14, 15 having open-ended guideways 22 alongside the roller trunnions, and the other roller 26 has its bearings 24 slidably mounted in guideways 22, a two-armed lever 30 being pivotally mounted in each guideway 22 with one arm pressing on the adacent bearing 24 and with the other arm forked at its end 31 where it projects out of the guideway, and spring means are provided urging the twoforked ends 31 together, there being provision for adjusting the spring means whilst under stress. As shown, the spring means consists of a compression spring located between a piston 35, carried by a rod 38, and the end 39 of a cylinder 34, carried by a rod 37. Rod 37 hooks on to one lever end 31 and rod 38 on to the other lever end. The spring loading can be varied by adjusting a nut 42 screwed on rod 38. Cross pins 27 in the guideways locate the bearings of roller 26 against endwise movement. Specification 605,043 is referred to.
