Abstract

682,872. Centrifugal separators. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Oct. 10, 1949 [Oct. 11, 1948], No. 25950/49. Class 23 In a device for indicating the sludge level in a centrifugal separator comprising one or more channels 2 which extend from the sludge space 1 towards the centre of the separator bowl 3, the inlet of a channel being so located that it becomes clogged when the sludge reaches a predetermined level, the channel leads to a discharge point which is located at substantially the same level as that at which the separated liquid is discharged. The channel ends in a chamber 4 provided with an adjustable discharge-nozzle 5 and a venting orifice 6. Cessation of flow from the nozzle, which normally signals the necessity for discharging the sludge, may also be used to actuate servo-means for effecting said discharge automatically.
