Abstract

682,861. Tubular heat-exchangers. SERCK RADIATORS, Ltd., and GARNER, E. May 3, 1951 [June 9, 1950], No. 14418/50. Class 64 (iii) Relates to heat-exchangers in which a plurality of tubes extend in parallel relation through a cylindrical casing, liquid or gas flowing through the tubes and liquid being directed over the tubes in a tortuous path by baffles at least one of which is annular and only slightly smaller in diameter than the inner surface of the casing. According to the invention sealing means between one of these annular baffles c and the casing f comprises a rubber or rubberlike resilient ring a of channel section, fitting closely over the outer periphery of the baffle plate c, and shaped at its periphery to provide two circumferential regions e of contact with the casing which regions e are separated by a distance not less than the thickness of the baffle plate.
