Abstract

681,840. Gas fires. WRIGHT, R. H. May 7, 1951 [May 6, 1950] No. 11275/50. Class 126 A gas fire comprises a frame supporting a contoured reflector extending downwards from the top edge in a curve to a horizontal front portion, a longitudinal slot parallel to the front edge and a short distance from it through which a row of burners project and an incandescent element arranged above the slot and heated by the burners. The frame comprises two end members A, Fig. 1, of bent wire or rod, with domed tops, curved front, vertical back and concave base connected by several longitudinal wires or bars a<SP>1</SP>... a<SP>4</SP> the reflector B being secured to bars a<SP>1</SP> and a<SP>4</SP>. Burners c supported by a box D project through a slot near the front edge of the reflector, to heat an incandescent element E, preferably of expanded metal bent into. inverted U-shape. A row of apertures is formed in the reflector behind the slot, Fig. 3 (not shown), to admit a stream of air which cools the reflector B, thereby becoming heated. The end members A are stiffened by cross struts a and the horizontal bars a<SP>2</SP>, a<SP>3</SP> form a guard for the fire. A carrying handle H is provided.
