Abstract

681,492. Pneumatic conveyers. BRITISHCOTTON INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. June 29, 1951. [July 19, 1950] No. 17996/50. Class 78 (i). In delivery boxes used in the textile industry in pneumatic conveying systems for extracting the fibrous material from the conveying air of the kind in which the fibres collect on the perforated periphery of a rotating suction cage 13, the suction area of the cage is enclosed bv the box 10 and sealing means 22, 23 is provided for engaging the periphery of the cage before and after the leading and trailing edges of this area, the sealing means at the trailing edge being yielding to permit the the passage of the fibres beneath it. The seal 22 is a flexible leather strip which is flexed inwardly as the cage moves beneathit. The sheet metal seal 23 is pivoted at 24 has an outwardly curved lower edge 23a and may be spring-loaded into the operative or inoperative position. Flexible strips 25 on the periphery of the cage remove any fibres which fail to pass beneath the seal 23.
