Abstract
A powder mixture for forming a permanent magnet for powder metallurgy comprises 6-11 per cent aluminium, 16-30 per cent cobalt, 12-20 per cent nickel, 3 per cent copper and the balance iron, the aluminium being present as an aluminium-cobalt alloy containing 67-85 per cent cobalt, as an aluminium-nickel alloy containing 64-80 per cent nickel or as an aluminium-iron alloy containing at least 82 per ent iron. The preferred proportions are 8.5 per cent aluminium, 25 per cent cobalt, 14 per cent nickel, 3 per cent copper and the balance iron.
