Abstract

679,726. Making boxes. MACHINES AUTOMATIQUES BARDET, and BARDET, G.. July 1, 1949, No. 17447/49. Class 18 A machine for forming boxes from precut blanks A comprises a notable turret carrying a reciprocating formers 1 which press the blanks through apertures in a table 2 carried by the turret. The passage of each blank through an aperture folds up sides B with their extensions C, and spring loaded checks 3 below the table press the sides B against the former. Fingers 4 at the same level as the checks 3 fold in the extensions C against the former and the blank is forced between cheeks 5 which fold up the ends D. During a period of dwell of the former 1, cams 15 act on the cheeks 5, pressing the adhesive coated ends D to ensure good adhesion. The formed box 16 is forced below the cheeks 5 into a conveyer 33, the former 1 rising to strip off the box against the lower edge of the cheeks 5. The machine includes movable flaps (not shown) and studs 13, for aligning the blanks on the table 2. These flaps, the fingers for folding the extensions G and the formers 1 are operated by cam grooves or protuberances on a fixed disc 9 co-axial with the turret.
