A partition structure for a box is formed by folding the side portions 15, 16, Fig. 1, of a blank upwards from a bottom portion 11 along fold lines 13, 14, and simultaneously folding transverse partition portions 19, 20, along fold lines 21. The blank is fed to a die 28, Fig. 2, and forced there-through by a plunger 53, Fig. 3, the completed partition being removed from the bottom of the die. The die 28 has side cams 29 for folding the sides 15, 16, and cams 33 for erecting the partitions 19, 20, to vertical position. The cams 33 are supplemented by levers 39 with cupshaped members 38 which initially contact the inner sides of the partitions 19, 20 and are then swung out of the way of the plunger by a roller 65 on the plunger contacting a lever 44 on the shaft 40 carrying the levers 39. Pivoted arms 56 on the plunger are actuated through linked levers 58 by a cam 45 during the plungers descent to force the partitions 19, 20, slightly past vertical position, Fig. 7, whereby the slit bases 23, Fig. 1, of slots 22 in the partitions are forced past projections 25 in the co-operating parts of the sides 15, 16, to interlock the partitions 19, 20, with the sides 15, 16. The completed partition comprising two longitudinal sides 15, 16, Fig. 9, and three transverse partitions 19 is removed from the plunger and carried sideways by a conveyer 73.
