[Class 18] Light boxes made from a blank of thick paper 'or light board, e.g., pasteboard, and secured by adhesive are formed by leading a series of blanks from an adhesive-treatment station, to a forming station, depressing the blank with a matrix by a ram, and while therein bending up the walls, bending in lateral extensions to form flaps, pressing in the adhesive-coated components against the ram while at the end of its stroke to consolidate the box, and holding the box at the lower position during the return stroke of the ram for ejection by the next blank out of the matrix for conveyance therefrom. The blank Fig, 7, comprises gummed ends A, B having gummed strips N, O and gummed side-reinforcing strips C, D having corner-reinforcing extensions C'. The strips C, D are folded and gummed down on the sides I, K, the extensions C<1> lying on the side wall extension E-N. The blank is then fed between guides 3, 4 against a stop 5 and forced down through a forming- block 6<1>. Surfaces 7, 8 fold up the sides I, K, cam-operated bars 9, 10 turn the extensions E-H through 90 degrees, plates 12 fold up the ends B, cam-operated plates 14 fold the strips N, O into horizontal plane, slides 15, 16 are depressed by cam-operated levers 17 pivoted on the ram 6 to fold and stick the strips to the inside of the carton ends, and finally, camoperated plates 11, 13 press the ends against the ram. The ram is then raised, the carton being held fast by springs, and the succeeding blank ejects the carton on to a conveyer.
