Abstract
677,912. Ignition magnetos. PHELON, R. E. Sept. 25, 1950 [Sept. 24, 1949], No. 24577/49. Addition to 640,164. Class 35. In a fly-wheel magneto of the kind described in the parent Specification the field structure consists of radially placed pair(s) of members made of magnetic material of which, at least, one is a permanent magnet, and each such pair of members are connected by an arcuate member so as to form a structurally separable magnetic unit from the fly-wheel. Fig. 3 shows such unit in which the two magnets 68, 70 are joined by a connecting member 62 made of magnetic material. The unit is arranged to be fixed to the fly-wheel 52 which can be made of either magnetic or non-magnetic material. Counter-balance for the magnet unit is provided by cutting away or forming the annular flange 54 at positions where the flange 54 registers with the magnet unit so as to offset the extra weight of the latter. The fly-wheel 52 ha integral blades 56 adapted to co-operate with housing to provide a circulation of cooling air
