Abstract

676,399. Transformers; dynamo-electric machines. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Sept. 15, 1950 [Sept. 20, 1949], No. 22763/50. Classes 35 and 38 (ii). A transformer motor or generator is mounted in a hermetically sealed casing 1 which contains an odour-absorbing substance such as activated alumina or barium oxide, so that when used in aircraft failure upon overheating causes no alarm. The substance also absorbs water vapour and reduces the likelihood of the rupturing of the casing. A circuit diagram for a transformer, Fig. 2 (not shown), indicates how various primary and secondary windings are connected to terminals 29 with fuses in circuit. These fuses are placed between primary and secondary windings so that upon overheating they melt and disconnect the appropriate windings.
