Abstract
676,258. Endless-chain mining-machines. BRITISH JEFFREY-DIAMOND, Ltd., and SAVILLE, A. Y. Feb. 13, 1951. [March 7, 1950] No. 5738/50. Class 68 (i). To remove kerf cuttings from the face side of a conveyer 2 along the side forms of which moves an endless chain cutting machine 1 of the type having a cranked jib for making a cut below the upper level of said conveyer, there is positioned at the leading side of the cranked portion of said jib an open-ended shroud 5 which, in conjunction with the chain 3, causes the cuttings to be raised from the level of the cut to a level above the conveyer at which latter level they are guided around the chain drive sprocket 4 to be deposited on the conveyer by guide plates 10, 11 and 12. An adjustable orifice plate 7 is mounted on a flange at the inlet end of the shroud.
