Class 7(ii) [Also in Group XXVI] A two-stroke, multi-row, radial cylinder, compression ignition engine comprises a fabricated frame 1 including longitudinally spaced transverse web members 3 and inner and outer cylinder supporting members 5, 7 coaxial with the crankshaft, secured to the members 3, which have main bearing openings in which are movably secured main bearing adaptors 9 and main bearings 11 for the crankshaft 15. The members 5, 7 have four sets of pairs of radially aligned openings and in each set there are four cylinder liners 19. Each liner has a cooling jacket 23 and a circumferential row of air inlet ports 25 opening into the spaces 29 being connected through the space 29 between the members 5, 7, 3, openings 27 in the members 3. The engine is fitted with cooled pistons 31 and connecting rods 47 having segmental ends, bearing on a common crank pin (see Group XXVI).
