Abstract
675,778. Doors for resisting fluid pressure. SAUNDERS-ROE, Ltd., and FIELDING, P. G. Oct. 5, 1950 [Oct. 12, 1949] No. 26216/49. Class 123(i) [Also in Group XXV] Locking means for the doors of pressure cabins in aircraft comprises toggle operated locking members 20, Fig. 1, operated from a shaft 16 carried by the door 11, 12, and rotatable by a handle 17, and a locking device responsive to the pressure difference on the inside and outside of the door adapted to prevent rotation of shaft 16 when the difference exceeds a predetermined limit. The locking device comprises a lever 33, Fig. 2, pivoted at 34, one end of which can engage a projection 37 on shaft 16, and the other end of which is linked to a bellows 25, the interior of which is in communication with the external atmosphere, so that at low external pressure the bellows contracts and causes lever 33 to prevent rotation of shaft 16.
