Abstract

675,490. Electron beam apparatus. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. July 19, 1949 [July 19, 1948], No. 19021/49. Class 39 (i). Leakage of electrons between adjacent electrodes of the magnetically-controlled electron discharge tube, according to Specification 675,465, are eliminated by an electrode construction such that the channel between adjacent electrodes has a length l perpendicular to the magnetic field 7 which is at least equal to the distance b therebetween. In the tube shown, the electrodes 4, 5 are provided with flanges 9 and the beam from the cathode 2, and anode 3, traverses a cycloidal path 8 under the action of magnetic field 7 and the electrostatic field from anode 6. In other forms, double or single flanges are provided at both sides of the electrodes 4 which alternatively may be curved or V-shaped.
