675,471. Thermionic valves. RADIO PATENTS, Inc. Feb. 26, 1948 [May 19, 1949], No. 5886 48. Class 39 (i). A thermionic valve employing an " internal cathode " comprises an elongated cathode 6, a positive space charge grid 1, a control grid 2, a screen grid 3 and an anode, the control grid having substantially the same shape as the cathode and the space charge grid having substantially the same shape as the screen grid, which is different from the shape of the cathode. The first two are preferably circular and the last two oval. It is explained in the Specification that with such a construction it is possible to obtain higher mutual conductances than have hitherto been obtained with this type of valve; various modes of operation are described. Specification 675,469 is referred to.
