Class 125(iii) A tear-off bottle or like cap 1 having an insert comprising a circular supporting plate 3 and a sealing line 6 of yieldable material thereon is characterised in that the liner has an annular portion concentric with the supporting plate which portion increases in thickness towards the periphery of the liner, and that this annular portion as it approaches the periphery is formed with a turned down lip which, when the cap is applied to the bottle, forms a downwardly tapering edge around the top of the bottle between the bottle top and the skirt of the cap.
