Abstract

675,176. Magnetrons. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 25, 1948 [June 23, 1945], No. 5645/48. Class 39 (i). The anode structure of a magnetron consists of a circular array of overlapping tubular loops, Fig. 3, which extend in an axial direction and have radially extending end portions 4, 5. The arcuate portions 9 of the loops provide strapping. Bars 12 fixed to adjacent arms of alternate loops form the inner surface of the anode. In a modification, Fig. 6, the anode consists of a circular array of L-shaped tubular sections having looped portions 49. Alternate anode sections are interconnected by straps 50 passing through the loops of intermediate anode sections. An axially movable tuning disc 51 co-operates with trapezoidal members 52 secured to the lower sides of the loops 49. Cooling fluid is circulated through the tubular loops or sections, and also through the envelope cover. The cathode is secondary emissive with a primary thermionic element located in a recess and is fluid cooled. Specification 675,175 is referred to.
