Abstract
674,686. Capsuling bottles &c. JASTA AKT.-GES. May 17, 1950. [May 23, 1949; July 20, 1949]. No. 12,291/50. Classes 125 (ii) and 125 (iii). In a closing capsule for bottles or the like consisting of a resilient member 3 permanently attached to the bottle by an annular part 2 and a concave thin metal capsule 4 the edges of which are expanded into the member 3, the capsule 4 is expanded by jaws 6 separated by sliding on conical surfaces 14, 15 of a control member 10 and a casing 7, 8 respectively, when the casing is depressed. The concave formation of the capsule is maintained during the expansion by parts 16 of the jaws 6 or by a separate member along which the jaws can move radially. The member 10 is fitted at the top with a disc which can move radially over the face 13 of the casing and a spring 12 is interposed between the disc and a member 11 bearing on the jaws ; the jaws can thus take up different levels and the member 10 can move slightly sideways in order to compensate for irregularities in the annular part 2. So that the jaws 6 will not bind the top flange 19 of the capsule against the part 2 during expanding, the jaws are cut away at 18 and have lugs 17 bearing on the part 2.
