674,621. Washing-machines. MITCHELL, A., and MUGG, P. Nov. 20, 1950, No. 28373/50. Class 138 (ii). A washing machine comprises a lid C removably securable to a gas or electric clothes boiler, and to which is secured an electric motor G, the spindle of which carries a propeller N which is surrounded by a perforated structure Q for preventing contact of the propeller with the clothes being washed and for protecting the propeller from damage when the lid is removed from the boiler. The lid C has lugs D which engage the boiler top beneath the hinges of the normal lid B, further similar lugs F, and a catch E. The periphery of the lid C has rubber on its under edge. The motor G rests on fibre blocks J and its spindle has a fibre coupling with the shaft M of the propeller N. The motor G has fibre bearings. A handle R for the lid serves also as a support for the device when not in use and maintains the motor.G and casing Q clear of the floor &c.
