[Also in Divisions A4, B1, B2 and D1] A perforated rotatable drum 49 (Fig. 11) is removably mounted in a domestic sink 1 for automatically-sequenced washing, rinsing and hot-air tumble-drying of clothes, a blowerheater (not shown) being provided. The drum 49 slides into radial slots in two bearing members, being held in by members 54 having catches 55. One of the bearing members, 53, is supported in a bearing 52 recessed in the sink wall and the other is attached to an adaptor 16 (Figs. 12, 3, not shown) fitting over a wateragitator 3 (Fig. 3, not shown) in a recess 2 in the sink wall. The drum 49 is driven at a variable speed from a motor through the agitator 3. Fig. 17 shows a vertical-axis spindrier 70 driven in the sink 1 at a variable speed from the water-agitator through an adaptor 58, 59 (see Figs. 15, 3, not shown, for details). The sink 1 is provided with a lid 57 incorporating a safety switch which prevents the spin-drier working except when the lid 57 is in position.
