Abstract
709,433. Washing-machines. HOOVER, Ltd. (Dreyfuss, H.). April 25,1952 [May 2, 1951], No. 10292/51. Class 138 (2) In a washing machine having an outer casing C housing a container D for washing liquid in its upper part, a cupboard formed in the wall of the casing has in it cleats M' or the equivalent for receiving the flexible electric supply cable N, when not in use, and a door L which, when closed, forms a continuation of the wall of the casing. The cupboard may be formed by an insert M in the casing of the machine and the door may be hinged at its lower edge. The door is held in closed position by spring ball catches Fig. 2 (not shown) and is of such size as to leave a ventilating space S above it. A ventilating aperture M<2> is formed in the back of the cupboard. In a modification the cleats may be mounted on the door. The cleats or one of them may be movable against spring action to facilitate rapid removal of the cable.
