Abstract
674,208. Machinery safety devices. MATCHETT & MARTINEAU, Ltd., and TIBENHAM, E. A: Dec. 6, 1950 [March 17, 1950], No. 6676/50. Class 80 (iv). In a power press safety device in which a rod' member 5 is adapted to be operated by a cam 6 on the press shaft to co-operate with a member 7 coupled to the guard 1, 2 so that the guard cannot be opened whilst the machine is in motion, the rod member 5 is formed in two parts 27, 28 forced apart by a spring 29 which is adapted to give should the rod member 5 be actuated by the cam 6 before the member 7 is completely clear of the end of the rod and the guard completely closed. A blocking member 18 is also coupled to the guard 1, 2 so as to prevent the press clutch being engaged through the usual pedal mechanism until the guard 1, 2 is closed.
