674,007. Packing for pistons and stuffing- boxes. DOWTY EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and BASOW, F. Nov. 3, 1950 [Nov. 4, 1949], No. 28320/49. Drawings to Specification. Classes 122(i) and 122(v) A composite packing ring made wholly of natural or synthetic rubber, comprises two annular portions, a harder portion and a softer portion, said portions being arranged radially one within the other and bonded together at their contiguous faces during heat and pressure treatment. The harder portion may be on the outer or inner side and is the wear surface and the corner edges may be chamfered or rounded. The rings may be parted off from a tube of harder and softer rubber produced in a mould.
