Abstract

673,840. Extruding dough. BRAIBANTI, M., BRAIBANTI, G., and LENNER, S. March 28, 1949 [June 8, 1948; Oct. 7, 1943], Nos. 8315/49 and 8316/49. Class 87(ii). Dough is fed by a press cylinder through a hole (not shown) into a tubular extrusion head 1 fixed to a plate 2 having one or more stepped openings 2' in each of which rests a die 4. When extrusion is finished, a screw plug 5 at one end of the head is removed and a threaded piston rod 6, which passes through a similar plug at the other end and carries a piston, is advanced by means of a wheel, whereby residual dough is ejected from the head. The dies may then be removed by pushing them into the head. The head is heated or cooled by liquid in a jacket 7 having an inlet 8 and outlets 9, 9<SP>1</SP> communicating by pipes 10 with a heated or cooled container 11. A pump 13 circulates the liquid. In a modification, the pump communicates directly with the jacket 7. The pipe section 10<SP>1</SP> may be byepassed by a section 14 having cooling fins 14a. Figs. 1 to 3 (not shown) illustrate a simpler apparatus.
