Abstract

898,387. Making collapsible tubes; stamping. DUFFAU, G. May 4, 1960 [May 5, 1959], No. 15767/60. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XVII] Apparatus for forming collapsible tubes comprises a female die 2 of frusto-conical internal shape and a male die covered by a rubber sleeve 5, a cylindrical tube of lead or aluminium being placed round the rubber sleeve before the male die is inserted in the female die and air or liquid being subsequently admitted under pressure through passages 31 in the male die in order to distend the sleeve 5. The male die has a steel plug portion 3 and its rear end is fast with a slide 4. Either of the dies or the slide 4 may be spring-loaded to limit the effects of the fluid or air pressure.
