Abstract
895,859. Casting-machines. NATIONAL LEAD CO. Feb. 23, 1959, No. 6156/59. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group XXV] In cold chamber die-casting using a disposable plunger seal in the shot sleeve ahead of the injection plunger, as disclosed in Specification 849,373, which is referred to, air is evacuated from the die cavity and communicating parts simultaneously with the advance of the injection plunger. The shot sleeve 10 has an inner portion 24 of lesser internal diameter so that the plunger seal 40 is deformed into intimate contact with the sleeve wall to provide a seal preventing air being drawn into the die cavity through the shot sleeve. The subject-matter of the Specification is otherwise generally similar to that of the Specification referred to above. Specification 849,374 also is referred to.
