Abstract

1358881 Making collapsible tubes; stamping SOC DE CONDITIONNEMENT EN ALUMINIUM SCAL GP 24 June 1971 [26 June 1970] 29633/71 Addition to 1309695 Headings B3A and B3Q Cylindrical metal tubes 1 are inflated to conform to a frusto-conical matrix while supported on a hollow mandrel having a cylindrical and an integral frusto-conical section. The length of the cylindrical section 21 plus that of the conical section 23 of the mandrel 20 at least equals the length of the tube 1 to be inflated, so that the frusto-conical section keeps the open end of the tube 1 sealed as the mandrel is progressively inserted during the inflation operation. The mandrel is moved by a jack 52 having a hollow rod 50 through which compressed air is supplied to the mandrel. After withdrawal of the mandrel, the finished work is stripped by air fed through the mandrel.
