Abstract
673,706. Drying apparatus. FEWSTER, J., and DAVISON, J. Jan. 12, 1951 [Oct. 13, 1949], No. 26351/49. Class 34(ii). Drying apparatus of the kind in which the material to be dried is loaded on to the perforated floors of a number of chambers and dry heated air is passed upwards through one chamber and downwards through the next chamber, comprises a series of open-topped segmental containers b c d e f g having perforated floors h and forming a cylindrical or multi-sided turntable rotatable about a vertical pivot j, a hood m which extends over two successive containers, a duct n extending beneath the floors of the two containers. e f and a container d succeeding them, and a fan s which supplies hot gases to the duct n from a furnace r through a passage t. When drying is complete as determined by the readings of thermometers U<SP>2</SP>, U<SP>1</SP> the hood is raised, the turntable rotated to the extent of one container, and the hood is lowered again. Incoming air may be passed through the dried material in container g to cool the material.
