Abstract

673,242. Discharge of materials. SHAWINIGAN CHEMICALS, Ltd. April 1, 1950. No. 8219/50. Class 78 (i). Apparatus for dispensing a pulverulent solid material at a uniform rate comprises (1) means 1 forming an enclosure from which the pulverulent material is to be discharged at a uniform rate (2) means 2 for charging pulverulent material into the enclosure (3) means 3 at the bottom of the enclosure for diffusing a gaseous medium into the pulverulent material (4) means 5 for mechanically agitating the material diffused with gas to, maintain the material in a fluidised state, (5) and screw conveyer means 9 for discharging the fluidised material from the enclosure, said screw conveyer means being in operation with the fluidised material in the enclosure at a position above the means for diffusing the gaseous medium. Fig. 1. Air introduced through perforated pipe or porous material 3 fluidises material introduced into container 1 through hopper 2, the rotary paddles 5 agitating the material which is discharged at 11 by screw conveyer 10. The paddles may rotate on individual axes or be replaced by high speed propellers.
