<PICT:0671970/IV (c)/1> A dyeing machine in which the fabric to be dyed is twisted into an endless rope, comprises a winch D for feeding the ropes of fabric to the dye bath B which is circular in cross-section, a secondary winch E which is introduced between the primary winch and the bath and is of a flat or flattened elliptical or oval shape in cross-section and mounted so as to be rotatable about a horizontal axis passing through the point of intersection of the major and minor arcs and serving to fold or plait the ropes into the dye bath.
