Abstract

Yarns and fabrics of linear super-polyesters, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, are dyed with dispersed acetate rayon dyestuffs and subsequently steamed at a pressure of 10 to 40 lbs. p.s.i. Articles such as hosiery are preferably steamed in a presetting apparatus. In examples: (1) hose knitted from polyethylene terephthalate is dyed with a dispersion of Dispersol Fast Yellow G, Dispersol Fast Scarlet B and Duranol Brilliant Blue BN and treated on forms in a preboarding machine with steam at 25 lbs. p.s.i. for 2 minutes; (2) polyethylene terephthalate woven fabric is dyed with a dispersion of Dispersol Fast Scarlet B and steamed on a metal framework at 25 lbs. p.s.i. for 2 minutes; and (3) a hank of polyethylene terephthalate yarn is dyed with a dispersion of Dispersol Fast Yellow G and Dispersol Fast Scarlet B and steamed on a metal framework at 40 lbs. p.s.i. for 1 minute.
