Abstract

Fabrics having patterned effects therein are obtained by dyeing a fabric that is woven or knitted in a pattern from at least two different textile materials, one such material comprising yarns and/or monofils of an aromatic polyester that is derived from an alcohol of the general formula HO(CH2)nOH, where n is greater than 1, but does not exceed 10, and terephthalic acid or with an ester forming derivative thereof, e.g. an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aryl ester or halfester, an acid halide or an ammonium or amine salt, and a second material comprising yarns and/or monofils of the same aromatic polyester differently extended by drawing or of another aromatic polyester falling within the class specified above or of a known textile material. In examples: (1), (2) a fabric woven from polyethylene terephthalate and nylon is dyed with Duranol Brilliant Blue BN300 or Azo Geranine 2GS; (3) a fabric woven from viscose rayon and polyethylene terephthalate is dyed with Chlorazol Black 2H 200.
