Abstract
671,882. Thermal regenerators. BLOMQUIST, U. O. Aug. 9, 1950, No. 19842/50. Class 64(i) A rotary regenerative air-heater has a fan 16 connected to the space 13 between the rotor 2 and its surrounding stationary shell 12 on the air side of the heater, to reduce the pressure in that space, preferably to the pressure in the corresponding space on the gas side, and so reduce leakage of air to the hot gas side. The air withdrawn by the fan flows through a pipe 17 or 18 directly to the main air passage 3 of the heater, or indirectly through a heat exchanger 20 in the hot gas passage 5. The intake of the fan 16 may also be connected by pipes 22, 23 to the spaces between the rotor and the sector plates 7, 8 separating the air and gas passages 3, 5.
