676,129. Thermal regenerators. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN. Feb. 2, 1950 [Feb. 9, 1949], No. 2719/50. Class 64(i) . In a rotary thermal regenerator, highpressure air or other gaseous fluid leaking past the rotor 10 or being carried over in it into the lower-pressure heating gas passage 12 is subjected to a vacuum before entering the gas passage, is sucked away at least in part, and is returned to the passage 13 for the high-pressure fluid. In the form shown, the sector plate Ak is provided, along its edge adjacent to the passage 12, with a slit 15 leading to a chamber 16 which is connected by a pipe 17 to the intake of a fan, which may be the blower 14 in the passage 13. The outer surface of the rotor 10 is provided with projecting vertical strips 18 which carry towards the slit air which has leaked over the outer top edge of the rotor.
