Abstract

669,955. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Oct. 19, 1949 [Oct. 29, 1948 ; Jan. 26, 1949], Nos. 26849/49 and 26850/49. Class 8 (i) A suction cleaner of the horizontal cylinder type and including a filter and motor driven fan, and which is connected through a flexible hose 1, Fig. 2, to a cleaning tool, carries a !amp 20 so mounted in the casing end, e.g. in a removable cap end 13, to which is connected a hose 17, that it illuminates the surface being cleaned. The cap 13 has a recess 21 in which the lamp 20 is mounted to allow of air cooling, a hand hole 23 opening into the recess to facilitate lifting the casing on to its end, and electrical contact pins which engage in a casing socket 32 to supply current to the lamp. In a modification a lamp 61, Fig. 5, and a hose connection 47 are at the motor end of the casing and a handle 54 is hollow to serve as a duct 45 leading to a removable end cap 43. A valve 56 in the position shown allows for blowing instead of suction when a sprayer is being operated.
