669,703. Seats. CHAPMAN, Ltd., A. W. Dec. 4, 1950. [Jan. 23, 1950] No. 1774/50. Class 52 (ii). A locking device for a sliding seat such as is used in vehicles comprises a rod 14, provided with a push knob 16 which is arranged at a position readily observable by the occupant, a latch 8, operable by the rod 14, which engages a selected notch 4 on the slide 1 of a pair of slides 1, 2 at one side. The latch normally engages the slide 1 to lock the seat in selected position and is mounted on a spindle 5 which is surrounded by a torsion spring 9 and has a crank 10 provided with a pin 11 embraced by the forked end 12 of the rod 14.
