Abstract

754,290. Adjustable sliding seats. HALLAM, SLEIGH & CHESTON, Ltd. Oct. 1, 1954 [July 31, 1954], No. 22403/54. Class 52(2). In a slidable vehicle seat having two side runners 2 working in guide channels 3 and locked in position by a peg 7 or 8 entering one of a series of holes 6, the pegs 7 and 8 being mounted on a common operating member 9, at least one of the pegs (peg 8 as shown) can move relatively to the operating member 9 so that, should it foul its hole, the other peg 7 can enter its hole. As shown, the operating member is pivoted in the runners 2 at 11 and 12 and the peg 7 is rigidly mounted on an extension of member 9 beyond the pivot 11. The peg 8 however is mounted on a lever 14 also mounted on pivot 12 and extended beyond this pivot so that the operating member can bear on it to withdraw the peg but does not force the peg into the holes 6. Spring 15 urges peg 8 into the holes and spring 13 acts on the member 9 and peg 7. In modifications, both pegs can be mounted as is peg 8, and the operating member can be mounted on the channels 3 and the holes formed in runners 2.
