Abstract

669,516. Wave-guides. WATSON, W. H., and GUPTILL, E. W. Aug. 29, 1946 [Sept. 19, 1945], No. 20372/50. Divided out of 669,463. Class 40 (viii). In a wave - guide assembly whereby energy is transferred from a feeder guide to a plurality of auxiliary guides, particularly for supplying energy to a two - dimensional slot aerial array as described in the parent Specification (see Group XL (c)), the feeder guide is coupled to each auxiliary guide by means of a slot common to the two guides and so dimensioned that in the impedance transformation from one guide to the other, the slot itself introduces no reactive components. Fig. 3 illustrates a system wherein the coupling slot 72 is coupled in series aspect (i.e. it behaves as a series impedance) in both guides, being more strongly coupled to the auxiliary guide B than to the feeder guide A. The Specification also illustrates several other arrangements including some where the slot is in shunt aspect to both guide and some where it is in series aspect to one guide and in series aspect to the other.
