Abstract
669,257. Rolling annular bodies. RING- FEDER GES. Aug. 15, 1950 [March 24, 1950], No. 20287/50. Class 83 (iv). In a method of fastening a ring 3 by rolling between internal and external rolls 4, 1, a forming-ring 2 encircles the work-piece and is guided and driven by the external roll 1, whereby the roll 4 determines the shape of the inner surface of the work-piece and the forming- ring determines the shape of the outer surface. The forming-ring may be in two parts to allow the work-piece to be removed, may, when divided into two semi-circular parts, be enclosed by a guide-ring.; and may be guided by a roller as well as by the roll 1. The invention is shown as applied to the manufacture of members of a ring spring of the type disclosed in Specification 166,516, [Class 103 (v)], ball-bearing races, and toothed annuli. Specifications 342,557, [Group XXXII], and 437,780 also are referred to.
