Abstract

1,221,685. Rolling annular bodies. TORRINGTON CO. 28 Feb., 1968 [10 March, 1967], No. 9572/68. Heading B3M. An annular blank B is expanded into contact with a sizing ring 35 by an internal roll 23, the edges of the blank then being deformed inwardly to provide flanges F1 and F2. The roll 23 is supported by outer rolls 18, 20 and is moved upwardly relative to a flanged roll 48. The edges of the blank extending beyond the central part 26 of the mandrel are deformed by inwardly movable vertical rolls 64 and 65 into flanges. The rolls 64 and 65 may have frustoconical rather than cylindrical surfaces.
