[Class 83 (iv)] Relates to mills, for rolling rings, of the type having an inside roll a, an outside roll b, two conical edging rolls c, d and two guide rolls g, h for rounding up the rings, and consists in providing additional conical rolls e, f to restrain the ring from buckling during rolling and from moving out of the pass of the rolls c, d. The upper roll g is of larger diameter than the lower roll h and after the diameter of the blank has been increased sufficiently for the blank to come into contact with these rolls, they are retracted through equal distances and this is stated to result in raising the centre of the blank. In a modified method of controlling the rolls g h, the roll h, Fig. 7, is kept in contact with the work by a constant pressure cylinder 2. Should the work tend to move to the right out of the pass of the rolls c, the rollers 3 on the lever 4 follow it causing pressure to be admitted to the cylinder 1 in a direction to force the roll g to the left thus forcing the work downwards so that as rolling proceeds it will regain its position in the pass of the rolls c.
