Abstract

A process of producing a -phenyl-isobutyryl urea comprises reacting an a -phenylisobutyryl halide with urea. In an example a -phenylisobutyric acid is converted to the acid chloride by reaction with phosphorous pentachloride, and the product is reacted with urea to give a -phenylisobutyryl urea using a sulphuric acid catalyst. Other halides and catalysts may be used.
