A nursery chair, comprising a seat which is displaceable by a pair of parallel motion links to two operative positions relatively to the general framework of the chair so as to provide both a high and a low chair, is characterized in that the frame has a back which projects above the side members of the frame and in that, in the high chair position the bottom of the seat is level with the top of the frame back and is securable thereto by disconnectible means. As shown, a seat 11, comprising a back 12, side arms 13, 14, supports 15, 16 and a tray 19 pivotally carried from the back by arms pivoted at 17, 18, is carried by U-shaped members 20, 21 pivoted at 22, 23 in the members 6 of the general framework which comprises a back member 4, side members 2, 3, 6, 7, uprights 5 and castors 1, the U-shaped members being connected pivotally to the seat 11 by U-shaped bearer members. The seat may be locked in its raised position by a bolt &c. 25 adapted to pass through registering holes in the seat 11 and back member 4. In modifications, instead of the members 20, 21 the seat may be arranged to slide on vertical guides carried by the general framework or it may be carried by horizontal slides, being adapted to be slid out of one set of slides and inserted in the other set.
