667,987. Gear-wheel pumps. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. Dec. 15, 1949. [Jan. 4, 1949] No. 32244/49. Class 110(ii). Two gear pumps have a common intake and deliver two separate streams of fluid at a substantially uniform rate. The driving gears 6, 10, are keyed to a shaft 14, and the driven gears 7, 11 rotate around a fixed shaft 18 which contains an outlet 28 for the second pump. The pumps are designed primarily for supplying viscous solution for spinning purposes. The fluid passes into the pumps under gravity or pressure by way of channels 22, 23, and deliveries pass through channels 26 and 27 respectively from the two pumps. Suitable steels for making the pumps are described in the Specification and contain chromium, carbon, cobalt, vanadium and molybdenum in various proportions. Case hardening may be used. A list of viscous materials which may be pumped is given in the Specification.
