Abstract

667,585. Lift trucks. CELANESE CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Jan. 4, 1950. [Jan. 6, 1949] No. 226/50. Class 78 (iii). The fork of a lift truck has a pair of baffle members 33, 34, which can be selectively positioned to limit the extent to which the fork can be inserted beneath the load. The tines 14, 15, 16 are joined by a member 17 which is chamfered to enable the fork to be inserted under unpalleted loads in the manner of a wedge, rollers 29, 32 being provided to facilitate this. Pairs of arms 35, 38 pivoted about a common axis 36 carry the baffles 33, 34 respectively, and to prevent the load passing too far onto the fork one of these baffles is lowered into the position shown. The baffles 33, 34 are respectively held in their inoperative position by a catch 39 engaging the portion 16a of tine 16, and a catch 42 engaging a hole 44 in baffle 34.
