[Also in Group XXVIII] A fluid indicator comprises a tubular housing A, Fig. 2, windowed at o, having enlarged ends 10 providing enlarged interior chambers, a transparent cylinder C passing through the windowed portion and its ends projecting into the enlarged chambers but spaced from the walls thereof, a concentric resilient gasket 22 in each enlarged chamber being in sealing engagement with the cylinder and a pair of heads B in screw-threaded engagement with opposite ends of the housing providing pressure on the gaskets. Each head B is channelled at 20 to receive the gaskets 22 and on screwing the heads B into the housing A the cylinder ends which are blunted along one edge force the material of the gaskets around the edges of the glass cylinder. The heads B are threaded at 12 for attachment to other constituents of the system. The cylinder C may be marked at m. In a modification, Fig. 7, the housing is formed with inclined shoulders 50 against which the rubber or like gaskets 62 are pressed by a pair of springs 60, the opposite ends of which press against heads B<SP>1</SP>. Sealing gaskets 58 of copper or the like are provided at the ends of the housing A<SP>1</SP>. In assembling the cylinder within the housing, the gaskets are well oiled to render them slippery and allow retention of the mark m in the appropriate position in the window o whilst the heads are rotated.
