Abstract

666,804. Bed-settees. GREAVES & THOMAS, Ltd., and THOMAS, A. J. May 11, 1950. Aug. 22, 1949. No. 21782/49. Class 52 (ii). A bed settee comprises a frame constructed with end boards 3 and back board 6 to which frame are secured the arm rests 4. Hinged together and to the end boards 3, preferably by the hinge construction 5 described in Specification 626,410, are the seat 1 and back 2 which are adapted to be placed in alignment without the back 2 projecting substantially beyond the frame. On the interior of the end boards 3 are mounted angle iron guides 7 upon which rollers 16 on the rear of a carriage 11 are adapted to roll. The carriage 11 is formed as a frame 12 having forward castors 15 and front board 14 and it is adapted to be extended from below the seat 1 so that a mattress frame 22 carried by two pairs of parallel links 21 may be elevated into position in alignment with the aligned seat and back. Gravity stops 20 are adapted to lock the carriage 11 in extended position when the mattress frame 22 is elevated. These stops 20 are released by lowering the mattress frame.
